Mirjam Kappes is a PhD student in Media and Cultural studies and scholarship holder at the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School for the Humanities Cologne. Her research interests include digital media and nostalgia, transmedia storytelling, visual discourses in urban space, and media aesthetics with focus on photography and film. She studied Media and Communications, German Literature and Language Studies and Art History in Germany, Switzerland and the UK and received her master's degree with distinction at the University of Hamburg/Germany. Prior to her graduate studies, Mirjam has worked in journalism, public relations and communications. She regularly writes for 'KulturPort', a German art and culture magazine, and 'MEDIENwissenschaft: Rezensionen', a review journal on media science publications.
